Gardner-Serpollet H, 1903–1904 – napędzany parą

Gardner-Serpollet był francuskim producentem samochodów napędzanych parą na początku XX wieku. Serpollet produkował własne samochody pod nazwą Serpollet i Gardner-Serpollet do swojej śmierci w 1907 roku. Na początku XX wieku silnik spalinowy nadal miał poważną konkurencję, elektryczność i para konkurowały z benzyną.

Wskazówka 100 km/h została przekroczona po raz pierwszy w 1899 roku samochodem elektrycznym, a znak 200 km/h – w 1906 roku samochodem napędzanym silnikiem parowym. Samochody z napędem parowym produkowane były głównie w USA, następnie w Europie, gdzie najbardziej znanym producentem był paryski producent samochodów Gardner-Serpollet, który dostarczył również kilka samochodów klientom na ziemiach czeskich.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the combustion engine still had serious competition, electricity and steam competed with petrol. This is also shown among other things by the history of absolute car speed records. The 100 km/h mark was exceeded for the first time in 1899 by an electric car and the 200 km/h mark in 1906 by a car driven by a steam engine. Cars with steam propulsion were mainly made in the USA, then in Europe, where the best-known producer was the Paris car maker Gardner-Serpollet, which also supplied several cars to customers in the Czech Lands. One of these, with a body built by the Vienna firm of A. Weiser & Sohn, was bought by the Count Černín family from the chateau in Vrchlabí. In 1931 JUDr. Karel Černín donated this car to the National Technical Museum collection.
