Car production in the Czech Lands began to develop more significantly during the first decade of the 20th century. At that time around thirty producers are recorded in its history, but most of these ended with the production of a single car and only about ten produced more than five vehicles. The Prague Automobile Factory Velox came upon the local motoring scene with grandiose plans and a blaze of publicity at the end of 1906. It was based in the Negrelli viaduct in Karlín, now part of Prague. It provided services to motorists, operated a taxi service in Prague and promised its own vehicle production. In the end it succeeded in producing several cars of a single type with a single-cylinder engine, which it demonstrated in April 1909 at the Prague motor show. Its marks on Czech automobile history, however, end here.
