Laurin & Klement voiturette B, 1906

Pod koniec 1895 roku księgarz Václav Klement i mechanik Václav Laurin otworzyli warsztat naprawy i produkcji rowerów w Mladá Boleslav, który w ciągu dziesięciu lat stał się najważniejszą fabryką motocykli w monarchii austro-węgierskiej.

Firma stawiała sobie kolejne cele do realizacji i z sukcesem, na początku 1906 roku, Laurin & Klement oferował również swoim klientom samochody. Pierwszymi były małe voiturrety z silnikami dwucylindrowymi. Oferta szybko się rozwijała, a do końca roku markę Laurin & Klement reprezentowały na rynku łącznie cztery modele samochodów osobowych i jeden samochód ciężarowy.

At the end of 1895, a bookseller, Václav Klement, and an engineer, Václav Laurin, opened a workshop in Mladá Boleslav for the repair and production of bicycles. In the course of ten years it developed into the most important motorcycle production plant in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The goals widened with success and so at the beginning of 1906 the firm of Laurin & Klement also offered its customers automobiles. The first of these were small voiturettes with vee twin-cylinder engines, but the range was rapidly expanded and by the end of the year the Laurin & Klement make was represented on the market by a total of four types of passenger car and one lorry. This Laurin & Klement voiturette B, which was donated in 1935 to the National Technical Museum collection by the factory’s founder, Václav Klement, comes from the first year of Mladá Boleslav car production.
