Podczas I Wojny Światowej, oprócz różnych innowacji technicznych, żołnierzom towarzyszył również motocykl.
Austro-węgierskie siły zbrojne zleciły jednocześnie kilku lokalnym firmom opracowanie nowoczesnych maszyn do szybkiego przemieszczania.

Praska firma Waltera była jedną z firm, do których się zwrócono z prośbę o budowę motocykla, ale nie udało się jej zrealizować umowy do końca wojny. Po jej zakończeniu projekt został przejęty przez firmę Jaroslava Janatka, która później dostarczała motocykle pod marką Itar prawie wyłącznie czechosłowackim siłom zbrojnym.

In the horrors of the First World War the motorcycle also accompanied soldiers in addition to other technical innovations. For this reason the Austro-Hungarian armed forces ordered the development of modern machines from several local firms at the same time. The Prague firm of Walter too was one of the companies approached, but it did not manage to complete the contract by the end of the war. In peacetime the project was taken over by the firm of Janatka, which supplied motorcycles under the Itar brand name almost exclusively to the Czechoslovak armed forces. It was donated by Jaroslav Janatka from Prague.
